Description

The technician provides hardware and software support for a varied set of devices and peripherals. Additionally, they provide escalated support to Help Desk Specialists and Technology Support Specialists and work on projects during the school year, over breaks, and throughout the summer.

 

Reporting Structure: The Technician reports to the IT Operation Manager, with input from Technology Director and other constituents.

 

Qualifications:

1. Minimum of 4 years relevant experience preferred;

2. Certification on computers, mobile device hardware, software, and/or networking;

3. Experience imaging, installing, configuring, upgrading, diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing hardware, software and peripherals;

4. Demonstrated hardware and software problem-solving skills across multiple platforms including computers, mobile devices, phones, and networks;

5. Strong interpersonal, written and oral communications skills;

6. Ability to work effectively in a team environment;

7. Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks and meet deadlines;

8. Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies and adapt to change; and

 

Duties:

1. Provide repair, support and maintenance of district wide technology; serve as a support resource to Help Desk Specialists and Technology Support Specialists;

2. Provide escalated hardware support and repair for tools such as computers (MacOS/Windows), mobile devices (ChromeOS/iOS) and A/V equipment (i.e. cabling, microphones, amplifiers, speakers, projectors, scanners, document cameras, interactive displays, etc.) in a timely and accurate fashion;

3. Provide escalated support for tools including but not limited to printing, phones, general operating system questions, imaging and software deployment;

4. Set up, breakdown, and move equipment each school year in particular at year-end, school breaks, and beginning of school;

5. Maintain the accuracy of the Asset Inventory, equipment asset tags, records and analyze trends for forecasting;

6. Communicate solutions to users and colleagues of all experience and organizational levels;

7. Maintain regular communication with technology staff when working throughout the district;

8. Review and stay current in OS, software and hardware issues;

9. Research manufacturer’s fixes/updates and communicate with vendors as needed; and 10. Follow correct departmental procedures for ordering equipment, parts, and all other activities.

 

PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Work requires travel between buildings as needed with own transportation, and may require long periods of moderate physical activity, including, but not limited to, using a computer, using a phone, standing, bending, stooping, and lifting up to 50 pounds. Work Year: (214 days per fiscal year)

 

Salary/Benefits: $36.57-$48.35/hour
